VIVIENNE LEESI KOBANI –BUZUGBE, ESQ

 

 

Vivienne Leesi Kobani – Buzugbe, Esq. was born on June 13, 1970 to the George Saako Kobani family of Bod-City, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State. Her father served as a Career Diplomat (now retired) and her mother a Civil Servant, attached to the Presidency, (also now retired).
She attended Primary and Secondary schools in France, Cuba, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Nigeria, and also obtained her LL.B (Hons) from the University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

She was called to Bar in 1991, after which, she was in Private Practice at the Law Firm of Moshood Edewor and Associates, followed by a stint at Itshekiri, Omuvie, Areyenka, Kobani and Associates. She has also put in some brief working experience at United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Elf (Nig.) (now Total Plc.) before her appointment to the Rivers State Magistracy in 2001. She has presided in various Magisterial Districts, namely: Rivers State High Court Port Harcourt, Elimgbu Magisterial District in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area as well as Elele Magisterial District in Ikwerre Local Government Area and in Nihi Chief Magistrates Court in Etche Local Government area before her appointment in July, 2015 as The Ag. Chief Registrar, High Court, Port Harcourt. She became the substantive Chief Registrar on January 11, 2016, making her the first female Chief Registrar in Rivers State.

She attended the MAN Workshop for Magistrates, the National Judicial Institute (NJI) Conference for Judges of Lower Courts at Abuja, FCT, as well as UNODC and National Judicial Institute (NJI) Workshops held at the High Court, Port Harcourt.
In addition to her first degree and her call to the Bar Certificate, she holds an LL.M from the University of London and a ChMc from the Chartered Institute of Mediators and Conciliators, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Calabar , and is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM)
She speaks Gokana, French, Dutch and Spanish along with the mandatory English Language.
She is married with children.
